This article identified the stations, radio programs and broadcasters active in Cuenca during the period 1960 - 1980, mostly positioned in the imaginary of radio listeners. A semi-structured interview was applied to 53 people belonging to different professional and labor fields, which allowed structuring a repository of information from primary sources. Cuenca stations from the study period that remain in the memory of the listeners interviewed are: La Voz del Tomebamba, Popular Independiente, Ondas Azuayas, La Voz del Río Tarqui, Cuenca and El Mercurio. For their part, the most remembered presenters of popular music programs are: Daniel Pinos, Mario Villavicencio, Fabián Molineros, Jorge Piedra, Manuel Pulla and Manena Escandón. Finally, the musical genres most widely disseminated by Cuenca radio stations between 1960 and 1980 were: rhythmic and romantic ballads; Latin American music (boleros, tangos, waltzes, rancheras, among others); tropical music (cumbias, mambos, guarachas, chachachás, among others) and Ecuadorian popular music (albazos, sanjuanitos, cachullapis, yaravíes, corridors, parades, tunes, saltashpas, among others).
