Most studies on school dropout focus on the negative dimensions of dropout. However, it is necessary to start developing tools that address the dimensions of school persistence. The objective of this study is to validate and measure the reliability of the School Persistence Questionnaire (CPE), created by Davidson et al. (2009), in its translated and adapted version for the Ecuadorian secondary school population. To carry out this study, we worked with a total of 253 students studying secondary education in a public school in the city of Cuenca, Ecuador. Confirmatory Factor Analysis was used with the Lavaan package and the WLSMV estimator. The results are presented in two models, opting for the second one, which met all the fit indices of χ2/gl, RMSEA [CI90%], SRMR, CFI and TLI. This study contributes to research related to school persistence by providing a validated and reliable tool to measure this construct in the Ecuadorian secondary education population.
