The identification of the level of quality of the thesis in the postgraduate nursing will allow the authorities to develop plans for academic improvement and methodological training. The objective of the research is to determine the level of quality of the postgraduate nursing work of the University of Cuenca, during the period 1993 - 2006. To achieve this objective, the research assumed a quantitative, correlational, retrospective and cross-sectional approach. 46 master's theses were reviewed, of which the 11 that met the inclusion criteria were selected. The results were analyzed with the SPSS 15®. Descriptive statistics were applied, for the qualitative variables frequencies and percentages were applied and for the quantitative means and standard deviation f, as well as measures of central tendency with their respective standard deviation. The results obtained indicate that the quality level of the Nursing postgraduate thesis of the University of Cuenca, carried out during the period 1993-2006, did not reach, in any of the cases, an acceptable category. The serious deficiencies in each one of the sections of the degree works, as well as the lack of social and scientific relevance of the subjects investigated, affected the final scores.
