Abstract

Based on the identification of several factors that hinder the enhancement of heritage in Ecuador –and verifying that in Mexico there is a similar problem that has been faced through different proposals–, the present investigation had as its objective: to collect proposals for the enhancement of heritage value, as an application guide in Ecuador. Methodologically, the present study resorted to a bibliographic review of articles, theses, and other bibliography related to the subject. From a final selection of 25 texts, which proposed suggestions for the enhancement of heritage, certain guidelines were established, which were categorized according to nine dimensions: conservation, community participation, playful learning, and archaeological practice, artistic, legal, and communicational. The investigation allowed us to conclude that the proposed guidelines respond to the need to respond to the problems evidenced at the beginning of this investigation; Thus, through the incorporation of public policies that ensure the conservation of the archaeological heritage and the allocation of a budget that supports the legal framework for the protection of said assets, effective solutions can be proposed to problems such as the gradual deterioration of the sites and objects, or the growing disdain on the part of the population towards the historical past and the cultural heritage.
